Final Farewell
anticipates that its program of providing financial
assistance to needy families will constitute 90% of its
activities. Final Farewell plans to raise funds to
subsidized burial and funeral-related expenses for
children of needy individuals in the greater
Philadelphia area and throughout Pennsylvania.
Final Farewell hopes to provide full funeral services,
including burial, at no cost to families that meet its
Charity Guidelines.
Final Farewell plans to
begin fundraising as soon as its charitable exemption
determination is received, and hopes to provide its
charitable relief to an estimated 20 families in 2006,
100 families in 2007 and 120 families in 2008.
In addition to raising
funds through private foundation and government grant
applications, solicitations and fundraisers, Final
Farewell plans to solicit contributions "in kind" from
funeral homes, cemeteries, and other service providers.
Moreover, Final Farewell plans to negotiate arrangements
with area funeral homes to provide funeral service,
including burial services, "at cost".
Final Farewell will
publicize the availability of funds through
communications with hospitals, including CHOP, funeral
homes, community groups, religious organizations,
clergy, and local police and fire departments.
Final Farewell has no
employees or paid independent contractors. Its
mission will be conducted initially by its Board of
Directors, which includes a broad range of community
members. If it is successful in its fundraising
efforts, Final Farewell anticipates that it will hire
one or more part-time staff people after it receives a
favorable charitable exemption determination. If a
person who is a Director seeks paid compensation from
Final Farewell, he or she will voluntarily resign from
the Board. Any compensation paid will be
determined in compliance with Final Farewell's Fair
Market Value Policy.
